ALVIN ‘BASIL’ HAYES

Alvin “Basil” Hayes passed away Feb. 5, 1999 in Hope, B.C. He was born in Burriss, Ont.
He worked at Camp Robinson, Ont. and Thompson, Man. as an operator of heavy machinery. In 1964, he moved to British Columbia, where he worked as a faller at North Bend.
He had a logging truck and hauled for the Catermole Timber Co. He also had a mushroom farm at Chilliwack, B.C.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen; his parents, Wm. and Frances Hayes; and three brothers, Harmon, Arther, and Edwin.
He is survived by one son, Ken, and wife, Cathy, and two granddaughters, Laurel and Kristine; three brothers, Wesley (Jean), Allan (Dorothy), and Mervin; and three sisters, Aileen Ryan (Gerry), Maxine Lamb (Jim) of Winnipeg, Man., and Gladys Hughes (George) of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Also surviving are sister-in-law, Isla Hayes; and brothers-in-law, Earl Fraser (Clara) and Ernie Fraser of Trail, B.C.
