ALMA LENORE HAW

Alma Haw, 84, of Apt. #2, Morley Meadowside Manor, Stratton, Ont., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997 at the Rainy River hospital.
Alma was born Oct. 25, 1912 in North Branch, Ont. to the late Tom and Lillian Brannan. Alma was raised and attended school in North Branch.
She was married to Carman Haw on Aug. 10, 1932. Alma and Carman resided in North Branch, where they raised their family and worked side by side on the family farm, their general store, and the post office.
They moved to Stratton in 1969. Alma moved to her apartment at the Manor in 1989.
Alma was a member of the North Branch and Stratton United Churches, and an active member of the United Church Women and of the Stratton Senior Citizens.
Alma was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who always put her family first and foremost in her life. She enjoyed family gatherings, chocolates, her house plants, playing cards, and watching afternoon television. Visits from family and friends were the highlight of her day.
Alma especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always interested in hearing about their activities and their achievements.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carman Haw, on May 8, 1988; by four brothers, Raymond, George, Thad, and Len Brannan; and two sisters in infancy.
Alma will be sadly missed by her sons, Bradley and wife, Edith, of North Branch, Ont., Allan and wife, Opal, of Wabigoon, Ont., Alvin and wife, Esther, of Dryden, Ont., and Howard and wife, Marjorie, of North Branch, Ont.; by daughters, Lillian and husband, Joe Dushanek, of Minitonas, Man., June and husband, Bryan Bonot, of Stratton, Ont., and Joan and husband, Murray Aikenhead, of Rainy River, Ont.; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Edith Bye of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton United Church in Stratton, Ont. Rev. John McFarlane officiated, with interment in Pineridge Cemetery in North Branch, Ont.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997 from 7-9 p.m. at the Rainy River Funeral Home in Rainy River, Ont.
Pallbearers were Melvin Brannan, Doug Brannan, Milton Bye, Harley Bye, Bradley Brannan, and Gerald Fadden.
