Alma Hafdahl, 90, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002.
She was born July 2, 1912 in Rainy River, Ont. to the late Thomas and Regina LeBlanc.
Alma moved to Fort Frances as a young child and had lived here since. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and was a chartered member of the CWL. She also was a member of the Sister Kennedy Centre.
She enjoyed fishing, curling, and snowmobiling with her husband in her earlier years. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Alma was united in marriage April 12, 1937 to Edvin Hafdahl, who predeceased her on Oct. 28, 1978.
She also was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Regina LeBlanc; two infant brothers and a brother, Ned LeBlanc; sister, Agnes LeBlanc; and sister-in-law, Mildred Malone.
She is survived by two daughters, LaVerne and husband, Joe Tibold, of Emo, Ont., and Sheryl and husband, Allen Costello, of Dryden, Ont.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Mark Tibold of Houston, Texas, Lorelei and husband, Robert Caldwell, of Fort Frances, Ont., Joanne and husband, Shawn Spence, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Paul Costello of Dryden, Ont.; six great-grandchildren, Randi and Courtney Caldwell, Jennifer and Alyssa Spence, and Tyler and Dani Costello; sister, Loretta Ogden of Fort Frances, Ont.; sister-in-law, Inez LeBlanc of Thunder Bay, Ont.; as well as nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Rey Ronquillo officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The honourary pallbearers will be all of Alma’s closest friends.
