ALLISON NICOLE (‘The Cat’) SMITH

Smith, Allison

It is with profound sorrow that the family of Allison Nicole Smith announces her passing on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 in Couchiching First Nation, Ont.
Allie was born on Dec. 22, 1995 to Marvin Fering and Shirley Smith in Fort Frances, Ont.
Allison loved old country music, and she enjoyed dancing and singing along to her favourite songs. She also danced at many pow-wows in Canada and the U.S.
Allie served as Princess of Northwest Bay First Nation for Jr. & Sr. Princess, as well as Couchiching First Nation’s Sr. Princess. At pow-wows, she was recognized as the girl in the red dress or “Princess.”
She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family members. She was very close with her sister, Rebecca—the two used to be inseparable at times.
Allie had a unique silliness and loved making those around her comfortable. Isaias, Treyton-Jay, and Calise will miss their “auntie cat.”
She leaves behind her sister, Rebecca Smith (Cote McGinnis); father, Marvin Fering; grandmother, Alice Smith; niece, Mila McGinnis and nephew, Isaias Lockman; stepbrother, Abram Fering and stepsister, Crystal Ness; aunts and uncles, Roger Smith, Donna Smith (Dave Williams), Cindy Lou Medicine, Kevin Smith (Terry), Jason Smith (Katherine), Gerald Smith Jr., and Stewart Smith; and numerous cousins.
Allison was predeceased by her grandfather, Gerald Smith Sr.; and great-grandparents, John & Margaret Smith and Alphonse & Mary Smith.
A visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
