Sadly, the family announces the passing of Allan Robert Dolph, 73, of Fort Frances, Ont., with his family by his side, on Monday, March 14, 2016 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.
Allan was born Nov. 24, 1942 to Vene and Margaret Dolph. He was united in marriage to Brenda Martinson on May 27, 1972.
Allan worked in numerous mines throughout Ontario and Manitoba, and drove the milk truck for McCool’s for a time. In 1977, he became employed at the local Boise paper mill in Fort Frances, where he remained until retirement.
He was known as the “Candy Man” by many in the community and always had candies in his pocket.
Allan will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Brenda; and three children, Ron (Lena) of Winnipeg, Man., and Gerry (Carrie) and David, all of Fort Frances, Ont. He also will be greatly missed by his six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by his sisters, Marlene Dolph of Camrose, Alta., Dorothy Dolph (Randy Walter) of Regina, Sask., and Janice (Allan) Gushulak of Fort Frances, Ont.; brothers, Albert (Fran) of Thunder Bay, Ont., Earl (Anne) of Cambridge, Ont., Ray (Shirley) of Fort Frances, Ont.; and Daryl (Melinda) of Regina, Sask.; brothers-in-law, Terry (Mary) Martinson of Fort Frances, Ont. and Ray (Joyce) Martinson of Victoria, B.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Allan was predeceased by his parents, Vene and Margaret Dolph; and his in-laws, Joe and Peggy Martinson.
A celebration of Allan’s life will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Fort Frances, with Pastor Marcel Chenier officiating.
Interment will take place in the Barwick Cemetery at a later date.
