It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Allan Quibell on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, with his family by his side.
Allan was born November 19, 1917 in Montreal, QB to Wilfred and Pearl Quibell.
On April 15, 1940, he was united in marriage to Léa Levesque and together they had four children.
Allan was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Earl, and his grandson, Brian.
Allan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years, Léa; daughters Joan Adolfson, Dale Boyd (Don), Carol Pratt (George); son Terry Quibell (Dorothy); brothers Arnold and Norman; sisters Evelyn and Gladys; grandchildren Carrie (Fern), Dawn (Jason), Brent, Blain (Jill), Michael (Linda), Marty (Yumi), Allen (Renee), Tyson (Talissyn), and Kelsey; and nine great-grandchildren.
He served in the Canadian Air Force during WWII and was a member of Rainy River Legion Branch #54 for more than 50 years.
Allan worked at a variety of jobs, which included commercial fisherman, trapper, prospector, power plant operator, heavy equipment operator, tourist camp owner and operator, and frozen food and ice cream distributor.
Allan was a private man, but those who knew him will miss the twinkle in his eye and his sense of humour.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, flying, reading, listening to music, and the special times with his family at the cabin on Lake of the Woods.
Cremation has taken place, and at Allan’s request, there will be a private family service held at a later date.
