ALLAN MacKENZIE

In loving memory of Allan MacKenzie, 73, of 1109 Scott St., Fort Frances, Ont., who passed away peacefully Thursday, March 1, 2001 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Allan leaves behind his wife, Josephine MacKenzie of Fort Frances, Ont.; son, Allan MacKenzie and wife, Judy, and their children, Scott and Heather, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and daughters, Jane MacKenzie of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Nancy and husband, Terry Parkin, and their children, Kara and Kyle, of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Also surviving is his sister, Alyce Corrigan of Fort Frances, Ont.; brothers-in-law, Bob Wenzel of Warroad, Mn., and Ken Sutherland and wife, Ida, of Putnam, Ont.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sutherland of Putnam, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Blair MacKenzie, on July 27, 1991; grandson, Tyler MacKenzie; one sister, Evelyn Wenzel in 2000; and two brothers-in-law, Bud Corrigan and Mack Sutherland.
Allan was born Oct. 3, 1927 in Rainy River, Ont. to the late Allan and Harriet MacKenzie. On Dec. 16, 1949, he was united in marriage to Josephine Sutherland.
Following their marriage, Allan worked as Yard Clerk for the C.N.R. in Rainy River until 1962. That year, the family moved to Fort Frances, where Allan worked one year with Immigration and then for Canada Customs until his retirement in 1988.
Memorial services were held Saturday, March 3, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Patrick Playfair officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Music for the service was provided by Bruce Lidkea. The Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 Colour Party provided a tribute during the service.
Friends visited with family Friday, March 2, 2001 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. A Masonic Granite Lodge service was held at 7:30 p.m.
Honourary pallbearers were Al Robertson, Roy Legarie, Al Heskins, Glen Treflin, Jack Tiefenbacher, Bud Hannam, Gordon Matheson, Doc Johnson, Don Budreau, and Buzz Miniely.
