ALLAN DARREN (AL) BURNHAM

Allan Darren (Al) Burnham, 35, of Seine River First Nation, Ont., passed away suddenly at his residence on Friday, Jan. 20, 2006.
Allan was born Oct. 6, 1970 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Elroy and Marlene Jourdain. At an early age, he was adopted by William and Barbara Burnham and moved to Ohsweken First Nation, Ont., where he spent his early years.
He later moved to Seine River First Nation to be with his brothers and sisters.
He did seasonal work in the area, as well as working for the band office and as a firefighter for them. He was an outdoors person who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and Pow-Wows with family and friends.
Al was very good at many crafts, including bead and leather work. He also could be found quite often enjoying his music and playing guitar.
As well as family and friends in the Seine River area, he also had many friends in the United States.
Al is survived by his father, Elroy Jourdain of Couchiching First Nation, Ont.; his adoptive mother, Barbara Burnham; two brothers, Clifford Boshkaykin of Seine River First Nation, Ont. and Jason Montour of Calgary, Alta.; four sisters, Mary Boshkaykin and Melanie Montour, both of Thunder Bay, Ont., Delores Jourdain-Bowes of Ohio, and Shelley Lee Burnham-Shognosh of Ohsweken First Nation, Ont.; three step-sisters, Eleanor Jourdain of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., Candace Jourdain of Winnipeg, Man., and Cynthia Jourdain of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Marlene Jourdain; his adoptive father, William Burnham; and one brother, Calvin Boshkaykin.
A traditional burial ritual will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006 in the morning at the Seine River First Nation gymnasium. Elder George Boshkaykin will officiate, with burial in the Seine River First Nation Cemetery.
A wake will be held Wednesday evening (Jan. 25, 2006) at the Seine River First Nation gymnasium.
A memorial service also will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Ohsweken First Nation.
