Sadly, on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, Allan Christopher Big George, Asabasidonini, Atik Odoodeman, passed away at Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing First Nation.
Chris was born Oct. 9, 1970 in Rainy River, Ont. and was a lifelong area resident.
Chris was a kind-hearted, sociable fellow who enjoyed a good laugh with family and friends. His favourite pastimes included playing Scrabble and Monopoly, listening to music or watching action movies, and visiting with his neighbours on the “Rez.”
He worked as a commercial fisherman, water treatment operator, and in housing construction.
Ever the gracious host, his home always was open to those who wished to stop by.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Agnes Comegan (James); brothers, Wes (Loretta) and Dennis (Angeline); sisters, Vera, Verna, Yvette, and Pam (Brian); nephews, Ryan, Dennis Jr, Justin, Dave Paul III, Evan, Daniel, Justis, Azrael, Kyle, and Jordan; and nieces, Charity, Alex, Kelly, Alia, Summer, and Autumn.
Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
He was predeceased by his father, Allan; brother, Samuel; sister Miranda; and nephews, Vinell White and Wesley Jr. Big George.
A wake was held Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 at the Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing community hall.
Traditional services followed on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at 10 a.m., with Fred Kelly officiating.
Interment was at the Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Brendan Big George, Daniel Big George, Jordan Big George, Ryan Big George, Sean Comegan, and Dave Paul III.
The honourary pallbearers were Kyle Big George, Darnell Comegan, and Clifton Tuesday.
