Gaagio’Sek-Gaagio’bik – Atik Clan
It is with saddened hearts to announce the passing of our dear Alice Smith. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family, love and lots of prayers in Fort Frances Ont. Alice has now joined in eternity her late partner Gerald Smith; daughter Shirley; great-grandchildren Allison and Lenny; and her late sisters Eliza and Louise.
She was born on July 31, 1945 in Naicatchewenin to the late Alphonse Smith and Mary Councillor. Her memory will be cherished by her children who loved her dearly: Roger (Danessa), Donna (Dave), Stewart, Cindy (Derek), Kevin (Teri), Jason (Katherine), and Gerald Jr.
She also leaves her siblings Florence (Willie), Gilbert (Delia), Lorraine (Tommy), Elsie (Richard) and Wayne (Tiffany). She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grand-children and many dear friends.
Alice spent her younger years raising her children and some grandchildren. She also worked in many fly-in and tourist camps in the area. She enjoyed many senior and women’s groups locally. She was very outgoing by attending pow-wows with her late sister Louise and grandchildren for numerous years.
Playing cards with family was her favourite past time as well as listening to a variety of music such as gospel and Charlie Pride. Her smile and laugh was warming and contagious. She also enjoyed TV shows such as Everybody Loves Raymond and The Price is Right.
Our grandmother loved everyone and our family will never ever forget her and the love she provided.
