Alice Myrtle Torseth (nee Hafdahl), 86, of International Falls, Mn., passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003 at Falls Memorial Hospital in International Falls.
She was born Aug. 26, 1916 in Fairland, Mn. She grew up in Loman, Mn. and moved to International Falls in 1934. She worked at Pearson’s Bakery, and as cashier at Golden Rule, Piggly Wiggly, and Pamida.
Alice was married July 28, 1938 to William Torseth Sr.
She loved spending time with her family, baking, cooking, music, and taking care of her home. She also was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, William Torseth Sr., on July 20, 1989; her parents, Simon and Engebord (Olson) Hafdahl; four brothers, Roy, Walter, Kenneth, and Roland Hafdahl; and five sisters, Marian Pearson, Sylvia Kohlhase, Ella Blinsmon, Thelma Sawchuk, and Lillian Sarahan.
She is survived by her son, William James (Linda) Torseth Jr. of International Falls, Mn.; daughter, Cynthia (Maurice) Herberg of Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren, Trevor Torseth, Jeri Weitz, and Jason Julien; two step-grandchildren, Vicky Ilkka and Vince Kellsey; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys Palm and Opal Wagner, both of International Falls, Mn.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in International Falls, with Rev. Thomas Aitken officiating.
The family would prefer memorials to First Lutheran Church.
