Alice Johnson, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 26, 2012 at her residence in Fort Frances, Ont.
Alice was born Dec. 6, 1941 at Crow Lake, Ont. to Tom and Rose Shebegagit. She was united in marriage to Ed Johnson, and resided in Seine River and Sabaskong First Nations.
Alice loved to sew, making blankets, and she also enjoyed going to Bingo.
Alice is survived by her children, Brenda Skead, Leslie Johnson (Angelita), Eugene Johnson, Karen (Kennedy) Fiddler, Darrell Johnson (Carla Kelly), and Craig Myers; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by her brothers, Tommy (Liza) and Raymond; sister-in-law, Bev; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Rose Shebegagit; husband, Ed Johnson; brothers, Frank (Louisa) and Joe Shebegagit; sister, Jean Wood; and her grandson, Chris Johnson.
A traditional wake will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 4 p.m. at the Onigaming First Nation gymnasium.
Funeral service will be held Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10 a.m. from the Onigaming First Nation gymnasium, with Elder Harry Windego officiating.
Interment will take place in Onigaming First Nation Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Sheldon Skead, Matt Skead, Mark Skead, Kurry Fiddler, Brian Shebegagit, and Chris Shebegagit.
