ALICE DOROTHY BROWN

It is with great sadness that the family of Alice Dorothy Brown announces her passing on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at the age of 81 at the Princess Court Nursing Home in Dryden, Ont.
Alice was born in Rainy River, Ont. to the late James and Petra Drennan. Alice came to Dryden from Fort Frances in January, 2009.
She was united in marriage to Leo Brown soon after he returned from WWII.
Throughout her life, Alice was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, always finding time for a thoughtful gesture and a kind word. Birthdays of family members and friends seldom escaped her attention.
She was especially fond of her grandchildren, and always looked for ways to make them feel special. Her house was truly a home.
Alice and Leo enjoyed the many years spent at their summer home on Lake of the Woods in Matheson Bay, especially when surrounded by her family, including her sisters and brothers in nearby Rainy River and dear friends, Marg and Glen Canfield.
Alice enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens. She also made life-long friendships during her many years involved with women’s curling.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Gregg) Edenburn and Janice (Dave) Brown of Dryden, Ont.; sons, Greg (Kristine) Brown of Rainy River, Ont. and David Brown of Fort Frances, Ont.; grandchildren, Jeff (Silvana) Edenburn, Erin Mackie, Ryan (Stephanie) Brown, James Brown, Sarah (Jeff Willis) Brown, Seneca Brown, Spencer Brown, Justin Brown; and Lyndon Brown; and great-grandchildren, Kaden and Kyle Mackie, Barett and Everett Edenburn, Talia Brown, and Logan Willis.
She also is survived by one sister, Vivian Locking.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, Leo, in March, 2007; parents, James and Petra Drennan; brothers, Laverne Drennan and Ernest Drennan; sister, Evelyn Nelson; and granddaughters Allison Brown and Lindsay Paull.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the McInnes Creek Chapel in Dawson Township, Ont., with lay pastor Carolyn Kreger officiating.
Interment took place in McInnes Creek Cemetery.
The honourary pallbearers were her grandchildren, Jeff Edenburn, Erin Mackie, Ryan Brown, James Brown, Sarah Brown, Seneca Brown, Spencer Brown, Justin Brown, and Lyndon Brown.
