Alice Arch, nee Copenace, passed peacefully with family at her side at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Man. on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010.
She was the beloved mother of Kathy Macleod (Paul Lamontagne) and husband, Neil, and their children, Scott, Christine, and Jeffrey of Kenora, Ont., Gerald Arch and partner, Candice Kelly, and their children, Leah, Jeremy, and Monica of Onigaming, Ont., Elizabeth Arch and her husband, James Arch, and their children, Nicole, Sattyn, and Yasmin of Onigaming, Ont., and Bill Arch and his wife, Colleen, and their daughter, Skyra, of Kenora, Ont.
She also was the sister of Johnny, Norman, and Patrick, Gloria Greene, Betty Kavanaugh, and Dorothy and Madeline Copenace; and also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Arch; parents, Gerald and Maggie (Shawon) Copenace; brothers, Donald, Cecil, and Henry and sister, Hazel; and granddaughter, Marissa Teresa Arch-Kelly.
Mom was born Dec. 4, 1944. She spent her younger years at residential school learning Catholic values and always being kind and giving to others.
Alice spent her life raising her four children through difficult times, but she persevered and taught her children how to hunt and fish and learn traditional ways of life.
Her goal in life was to teach her children well and carry on with the lessons she taught.
Alice also loved and cared for her 10 grandchildren, and they will miss her dearly.
Mom totally enjoyed the winnings of the big pots at Bingo and casino life in her later years.
She was fortunate to recover 10 years ago from a similar event and God blessed us. That was His gift. Now he has called her to his castle in Heaven and his angels are there comforting her.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Onigaming School gym, followed by interment at Onigaming.
