Alfred Leon Roisin, a beacon of kindness and unwavering optimism, left us on December 27, 2025, at the venerable age of 94. Born on July 13, 1931, in Belgium to the late Louis and Reneé Roisin.
Alfred was married in 1963 to Lise Madison in L’Acadie, Québec, and together they created their legacy, Roisin Farm Equipment, a business that reflected his commitment to supporting fellow farmers.
He was embraced with the wisdom of the earth in his study of Agriculture. His reputation for fairness and quality service was well-known throughout the Rainy River District.

He was a man who found great joy in helping others. He approached every day with an enduring smile and a gentle spirit, inspiring those around him to see the good in the world and in themselves.
“Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” Alfred lived by these words, demonstrating through his actions that a positive outlook was the key to a life well-lived.
Fishing was not just a pastime for him, but a reflection of his patient and contemplative nature, while his interest in ancestry spoke to his deep appreciation for the connections that bind us all. A man who cherished the past and embraced the present. A bottle of homemade wine was always on hand for visitors.
Alfred was predeceased by his parents; his sisters Anne-Marie, Alice, and Cecile; his loving wife Lise; and his son Fred.
Left to carry a piece of Alfred’s heart and wisdom, a testament to his role as a devoted and loving father and mentor include his children Louis, Rene (Cindy), and Anne; his grandchildren Jeffery; Megan (Mackenzie with great-grandchild Michael), Tanner (Megan), and Anthony (Crystal) will miss him deeply.
Also left to cherish his life are his brother Louis and sister Claire (Xavier), nieces, nephews, in-laws, including Brenda Gill and family and Cindy’s children Kayden, Alexandra, Leia, and Jacob; as well as Alfred’s extended family in Belgium, Mexico, Lise’s extended family in Québec and Hamilton; and dear friends.
Thunder Bay bore witness to his final breath, his soul taking flight in the gentle embrace of old age.
In lieu of flowers and in his honour, may we reflect his kindness in our actions, his optimism in our thoughts, and his gentleness in our manner.
A Celebration of life will be held in the Spring.
