Alexander Khober passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at the Atikokan General Hospital in Atikokan, Ont.
He was born Oct. 9, 1932 in Barwick, Ont. to Lydia and Alexander Khober.
He was raised on the family farm in Blackhawk, Ont. with his nine siblings.
Alex had a variety of jobs. He started working for Stan Bates Construction in Finland, Ont. Then in 1974, he moved to Atikokan, where he worked for the company until retirement.
He was a member of the Atikokan branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Alex served on the executive, was part of the Legion Colour Party, and received his 25-year pin in 2013.
He also was a member of the Atikokan Lions Club.
Alex is survived by his wife, Joy; sisters, Shirley Cropper of Sudbury, Ont., Alice Cropper of North Bay, Ont., Chris Taulu of Vancouver, B.C., Lydia Barras of Emo, Ont., and Joan Risto of Napanee, Ont.; brother, Don of Timmins, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held May 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Atikokan.
Alex will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
