With broken hearts and great sadness, we, the family of Alex Wilson, announces his sudden passing in the arms of his wife at their home on the farm.
Alex and Linda were farmers at heart and shared their passion, side by side, for their 53 years of marriage. He would proudly declare, “Every nail in our home and out buildings we have pounded in place!”
Alex was born on May 13, 1934.
Alex’s one desire was to stay on the farm “until death do us part.” His wish came true, on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at the age of 82.
Alex’s faith in Christ was an important part of his life and his quiet nature passed on a legacy of faith to his family. The family attended the Off Lake Covenant Church and rarely missed a service and worship since it was founded in the 1950s.
Music also was a very important part of family life. Guitar, music festivals, eight-tracks, cassettes, CDs, radio, he loved them all. Bluegrass or southern Gospel was his preferred choice.
If a knock came to the door, one would hear the music loud and clear before his “come in” invitation for a cup of tea and a sweet snack.
Alex was a self-taught wood crafter. Every family member has treasures created specially for them, made-to-order from a picture.
To cherish many memories, Alex leaves behind his wife, Linda; their three daughters, Londa, Letricia, and Lynita; three sons-in-law, Jon Judson, Greg Plett, and Irnie Froese; seven grandchildren, Shannon (Trevor States), Zachary and Seth Judson, Tyson, Lucas, and Brooklyn Plett, and Wilson Froese; and three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Ava, and Jaida States.
Alex also is survived by his brother, Dan (Ellen) and sisters, Lydia Wilson and Elizabeth (Nick Kluk); sister-in-law, Shari (Joe Georgeson); brother-in-law, David Ball; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, Ralph and Laura; brothers, Willard and Jim; and sister, Iris Reid.
A celebration of Alex’s life will be held Friday, Dec. 16 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Christian Reform Church in Emo, Ont., with Pastor Ken Johnson officiating.
Interment will take place in the Emo Cemetery at a later date.
If desired, in memoriam donations may be made to the Gideon’s Society c/o Northridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 89, Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0.
