On Aug. 6, 1999 at the age of 97, Alex Lerman, a prominent merchant in Fort Frances, Ont. from 1927-1977, peacefully passed away in his sleep.
Alex was born in Russia in 1902.
He is survived by his wife, Gert; his daughter, Phyllis Pollock; four grandchildren, Gary (Laura), Randi, Steven (Karen), and Robert; great-granddaughter, Lauren Pollock; and brother and long-time partner, Dave Lerman (Florence).
A special mention to Joan and Sid Sholom, who were always there for Alex.
Alex spent most of his life living in Fort Frances, where he, along with his brother, Dave, were successful merchants and operated Lerman’s Department Store for more than 50 years.
Alex was predeceased by his first wife, Ruby in 1961.
Alex was a mason and an avid Bridge player, and loved sports of all kinds.
Services were held Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Gary Pollock, Robby Pollock, Sid and Bruce Sholom, Harvey Nairn, and Mel Yurkowski.
