ALANE RAE COLLINS

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Alane Rae Collins (Sullivan), 61, of Fort Frances, Ont.
Alane passed away peacefully, with her family by her side and in hand, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017.
She was predeceased by her father, Edward Alan Sullivan.
Alane was born on Aug. 11, 1956 in Baudette, Mn. to Alan and Eileen Sullivan of Rainy River, Ont. She spent most of her childhood in Rainy River before moving with her family to Nakina, Ont. and then to Geraldton, Ont., where she met and married the man of her dreams, Dennis Collins, and spent the next 41 years together.
Alane and Dennis raised one child, Christina, and fostered more than 270 children over a 21-year span, making significant differences in many children’s lives.
While in Geraldton, Alane worked for the Municipality of Greenstone in Infant Child Development. She developed many meaningful friendships while in Geraldton and often expressed how much she missed them when she moved away.
Alane moved to Fort Frances in 2007 to help with her ailing father. Alane worked at the Canadian Mental Health Association in Fort Frances, and then at the Countryview Child Care Center in Devlin, Ont.
Alane had a great passion for children and always would be the first to step up to help anyone.
Alane enjoyed knitting and sewing, and most of all being with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a very caring and giving person who always was there to listen to your problems and give you advice and guidance.
She would make sure everyone had what they needed even if she had to go without.
Alane will be sadly missed by her husband, Dennis, and daughter, Chrissy Collins (Adam); grandchildren, Braydon, Rylee, and Cael; mother, Eileen Sullivan of Fort Frances, Ont.; and brothers, Randy Sullivan (Maureen) of Dryden, Ont., Tom Sullivan (Chrissy) of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Paul Sullivan (Sandy) of Fort Frances, Ont.
She also will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Randii-Lynn and Cody (Randy), Tiffany and Justin (Tom), Donny, Jodi and husband, Dylan McGinnis, and Robyn (Paul), Robin Collins (Amanda, Miranda, Irene, Becky, and Ian) of Toronto, Ont., Bruce Collins of Toronto, Ont., Sharon (Lareen and Megan) of Toronto, Ont., and Marie (Adam and Jolene) of Ottawa, Ont.
Alane also will be missed by numerous friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and especially Karen Antonson (cousin), who Alane considered to be more of a sister.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life and internment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Tamarack House in Thunder Bay, Ont.
