AGNES MARION STRAIN

Agnes was married June 29, 1939 to her loving husband, Harvey Edward Strain, who predeceased her May 8, 1968.
Agnes enjoyed curling in her younger years and was a big fan of the game. She also enjoyed spending time house-boating with relatives or just soaking up the sun at the cabin.
She was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary for many years.
The biggest joy in her life was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Frank (Monique) Strain of Fort Frances, Ont.; daughters, Sharon (Robert) Jolicoeur of Fort Frances, Ont., and Carole (Larry) Gilliland of International Falls, Mn.; 13 grandchildren, Edie (Les) Atkin, Kelly (Pauline) Jolicoeur, Mike (Dawn) Jolicoeur, Rob (Rena) Jolicoeur, Gary (Kendall) Jolicoeur, Harvey (Sherri) Jolicoeur, Sandi Jolicoeur, Ian Strain, Keira Strain, Joel Strain, Leal Strain, Todd Andrusco, and Lisa Cox; as well as 19 great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by her brother, Jack Kerr of Edmonton, Alta.; brother-in-law, Jack (Marion) Strain of International Falls, Mn.; and sisters-in-law, Willa Kerr of Whitby, Ont. and Lenore Pierce of Sioux Lookout, Ont.
Special nieces and nephews are Shannon Peterson, Diane Brokaw, Lyle Turgeon, and Ken Brokaw. Special friends include Clora McEvoy and Cathy (Ray) Taylor.
Agnes was predeceased by her mother, Maude (McLay); father, Barney Kerr; granddaughter, Jana Lyn Andrusco (1964); grandson, Gene Andrusco (2000); sisters, Jennie Foster, Bess Turgeon, Eva Whales, and Helen Smith; and brothers, Adam, Chuck, Hugh, and Fran Kerr.
Agnes always will be remembered for her kindness, her love for life, and her great sense of humour. She was very special to us all and we will miss her dearly.
A memorial service will take place Monday, March 17, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one,
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun,
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
