Agnes Lindgren, 83, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., formerly of Flinders Place, passed away at her residence Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000.
She was born Jan. 1, 1917 in Rainy River, Ont. to Maurice and Ida O’Neill, where she was raised and attended school. From Rainy River, Agnes moved to Black Sturgeon, Ont. for a time before moving to Thunder Bay, Ont.
In Thunder Bay, she met Jonas “Olie” Lindgren, and later was united in marriage to him in Aug. 3, 1966.
In Thunder Bay, Agnes worked as a secretary at Investors Syndicate in her earlier years, and later for the Children’s Aid Society until her retirement in 1981. Following her retirement, she moved to Fort Frances, where she resided since.
Agnes was an avid reader, and always loved a good joke. Her other interest included travelling, which she loved and had done extensively throughout the world.
She was predeceased by her mother, Ida O’Neill; father, Maurice O’Neill; husband, Jonas “Olie” Lindgren; and brother, Lawrence O’Neill.
Agnes is survived by her siblings, Frank O’Neill and wife, Florence, of Fort Frances, Ont., Myrtle Rivard of Baudette, Mn., and Roy O’Neill and wife, Isabelle, of Dugald, Man.; and her nieces and nephews, Gerald O’Neill and wife, Bev, of Fort Frances, Ont., Carol and husband, Roger Birkland, of Proctor, Mn., Marlyss and husband, Herm Hernandez, of Freeport, Florida, Bill Rivard and wife, Phyllis, of Baudette, Mn., Ron Rivard and wife, Joy, of Folsom, Cal., Dale Rivard and wife, Janet, of Prior Lake, Mn., Bob Rivard and wife, Rhonda, of Grass Valley, Cal., Lyal O’Neill of Dugald, Man., and Bruce Lindgren of Dryden, Ont.; as well as many friends.
She will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. will officiate, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends may visit Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home
Pallbearers will be Gerald O’Neill, Roy O’Neill, Lynn Belanger, Rob Caldwell, and Don Meyers.
