Agnes Rowland, 82, of R.R.1, Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances on Friday, Oct. 27, 2000.
She was born Dec. 24, 1917 in Waterloo Township, Ont. to Henry and Agnes Kehl. After living in Saskatchewan, the Kehl family homesteaded in the Crozier District, where Agnes attended Crozier #3 school.
She was employed in Winnipeg, Man., returning home frequently to work on the family farm and care for her parents.
On June 30, 1956, she married W. Clifford Rowland and they farmed in Crozier.
During the years 1958-1962, she worked as a cook at Tricomi’s Camp Manitou. Her hobbies included singing, gardening, crocheting, and keeping in touch with relatives and her many friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Cliff, in 1998; brothers, Carl in infancy, Walter, and Harold; and sisters, Lottie in infancy, Millie Kruger, Nettie Buffington, Elma Tate, Clara Law, and Alice Broughton.
She is lovingly remembered by brothers, Ken (Helen) Kehl and Dave (Muriel) Kehl; and her many nieces and nephews, along with many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fort Frances. President John DeFrancesco officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Visitation was held prior to services on Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Pallbearers were Norbert Bragg, Allan McTavish, Don McTavish, Ken McTavish, Doug McTavish, and Bob McTavish.
Agnes’ wishes would be that “all” her friends also be her honourary pallbearers.
