ADOLF DOMRES

Adolf Domres, 90, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006.
Adolf was born Sept. 14, 1916 on the family farm outside of Steinbach, Man. As a young man, he moved to the Sudbury, Ont. area for work. There he met Edna Richert and they were united in marriage on June 6, 1943.
Together they settled in Fort Frances to raise their family.
Shortly after returning to Fort Frances, Adolf joined the workforce at Boise Cascade. He retired on Dec. 31, 1979 after 33 years of service.
He was an active member of the Church of the Lutheran Hour, and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Adolf was very family-orientated and cherished every moment he had with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Amalia and Gustav Domres; beloved wife, Edna, of 49 years, on April 7, 1993; and numerous brothers, sisters, and in-laws on both sides of the family.
Adolf leaves behind his daughter, Sharyn Enge (Mike Furlong) of Fort Frances, Ont.; sons, Garry (Kathryn) Domres of Sarnia, Ont. and Daniel Domres of Fort Frances, Ont.; granddaughters, Sherri-Lynn (Gordon) Shine, Lee-Ann DeGagne, Elizabeth (Dion) Jernberg, Rachel (Mark) Hugins, Sarah (Jason) DeBruin, and Rebekah and Jessica Domres; great-grandchildren, Chantel, Brittany, and Kayla Shine, Justin and Jamie Enge, Spencer DeGagne, and Talysha and Dakota Jernberg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Lutheran Hour in Fort Frances. Pastor David Gallas officiated, with interment in the Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers were Gordon Shine, Dion Jernberg, Randy DeGagne, Michael DeGagne, Art Scheirer, and Edward Kaun.
The honourary pallbearers will be the people of the Church of the Lutheran Hour.
