Ada (Reesor) Nighswander of Barwick, Ont. passed away peacefully at home to her heavenly reward July 19, 1998 at the age of 89. She was born Dec. 23, 1908 in Pickering Township, Ont. to Henry and Sarah (Burkholder) Reesor.
At age 17, she was born again into the family of God, and joined the Mennonite Church. On March 12, 1935, she was united in marriage to Fred L. Nighswander and they enjoyed more than 63 years together.
She faithfully shared her husband’s ministry for 30 years near Stouffville, Ont. Then in 1965, they moved to the Rainy River District, where she became a dear friend and “Grandma Ada” to many native people as well as to those in the local Mennonite congregations.
She daily remembered many people in her prayers.
She is fondly remembered by her loving husband, Fred, of Barwick; one son and five daughters, Eva (Mrs. John Reesor) of Pickering, Ont., Ruth (Mrs. Norman Smith) of Ailsa Craig, Ont., Enos and wife, Arlene, of Barwick, Esther of St. Catherines, Ont., AnnaMary (Mrs. Roy Huber) of Itasca, Tex., and Martha of Barwick; one spiritual daughter, Maggie and her family; one sister, Anna (Mrs. Fred Drudge) of Wroxeter, Ont.; 24 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Willis and Norman Reesor.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23, 1998 at 1:30 p.m. at Barwick Hall, with interment in the cemetery at Manitou Rapids Church on the Hill.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lamp and Light Bible Correspondence Courses.
