What’s the answer?

Dear editor:
As the horror of this latest school shooting massacre rocks society, questions and solutions are thrown around like dust is a whirlwind.
We need more gun control, and we need prayer and the 10 Commandments put back in school.
Wrong answer.
At almost 61 years of age, having crisscrossed North America for years, I’ve seen and heard a lot. For six years in the ’60s, I attended a small, one-room country school, where we sang “God Save the Queen” and recited the Lord’s Prayer every morning. And yet, there was almost daily violence of teacher on student, student on teacher, and student on student.
Prayers in school only will work when first embraced and rooted at home.
Guns? Yes, let’s take away all guns because guns kill people, right? Wrong. People kill people. Darkness of the heart.
More people are murdered in North America by other means, like knives, clubs, and strangulation by hands, nylons, ropes, and articles of clothing. So, while we’re at it, let’s just remove all those and cut off all hands.
More people are murdered in the U.S. every day than died on 9/11. They are the innocents snuffed out in the abortion mills every day.
So what is the answer as we look around the world and see such a rapid increase in violence and restlessness?
Let’s not follow the blueprint of Isaiah 9:10, which is a vow of pride and defiance (“The bricks have fallen down but we will rebuild with hewn stones, the sycamores are cut down but we will replace them with cedars”).
The only answer is II Chronicles 7: 14-15, which states, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
“Then My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.”
This is the only solution for any country or peoples, not any man-made laws, rituals, traditions, religion, or theology.
God answers prayers of the heart. God Bless.
