To the editor:
I would like to comment on one of the statements in Mr. Bedard’s platform as stated in the Oct. 1 issue of the Fort Frances Times.
When he states that “the seniors would like to run the senior centre themselves,” what seniors does he refer to and who is he speaking for?
I, along with many other seniors, am very happy with the present policies and procedures which outline operational guidelines. Is he assuming that the majority of the seniors are unhappy?
At an open meeting at the centre requested by Mr. Bedard, the policies and procedures document was discussed and enthusiastically received by the majority of seniors attending.
Why is he saying that “the seniors would like to run the centre” when the majority do not agree?
Are we, the majority at that meeting, not a credible senior population worthy of an opinion and vote?!
Would Mr. Bedard please explain what “senior population” he is referring to. It is not the seniors that I have spoken to that wish this to happen.
Yours truly,
Bev Bond
