Dear Mike:
Please allow me to be the first to publicly thank all those involved in the “outragalaciously” successful inauguration of the Fort Frances Folk Festival (it was such a delight that a new word was needed to express it!)
I would not describe myself as a “folkie,” but I have been to more than a few outdoor musical events; in Manitoba, the U.S, and Ontario. And take my word for it, the Fort Frances Folk Fest was true to the spirit of the best of them.
I spoke to people from as far away as Montreal who booked their vacation around this year’s event, and heard from a dedicated “folkie” in Winnipeg that they’ll be here next year.
I hope these are encouraging words for the “F4” and good news for the district.
Whether you planned to go this year but couldn’t, or are thinking of going next year, do it and bring a friend.
I’ll wrap up by mentioning a few names (I apologize in advance because I’m leaving out a deserving few). For their vision and perseverance, congratulations and well done to Alex M., Joelle B., and Jennifer H.!
And to the staff for their obvious dedication and hard work, and to the breath-taking performers, the creative artisans, the cooks, and others who helped make this a quality event, well done!
