Wear pink

Dear editor:
The 1st Fort Frances Sparks are asking people from across Rainy River District to join us on April 14 by wearing pink as a way to stand up and say “no” to bullying.
Bullies are really bad. They make us feel sad and mad. Small kids, big kids, even grown-ups can be bullies.
Wearing pink as a way to stand up against bullying began back in 2007 when a Grade 9 boy in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing pink. Other students decided they all would wear pink together to stand up against these bullies.
Since then, many people from around the world have worn pink together on certain days to say that bullying is wrong. Pink also is the colour of our Sparks’ uniform.
The next day to wear pink is on April 14, and many people from across Canada will be participating. We are hoping that everyone can join in and wear even a little bit of pink that day, no matter who they are.
