Dear sir:
Well, it has happened again in Fort Frances.
You now can add Shaw Cable to the list of corporations and its businesses that are seemingly not interested in the opinions of the public nor customers on the service which they provide.
It is the same old, same old—here is what we want to give you and this is what you’re going to get. No survey or dialogue, it is like it or lump it.
How ironic that just last year, Fort Frances and International Falls became sister cities then out of the blue, the town’s newest gunslinger knocks off the four TV channels the two towns had in common.
Those channels being the four channels that come out of Duluth, Mn.
For decades, with the Duluth channels we were getting regional news, sports, and weather, along with numerous special programs that were of interest to viewers in Fort Frances.
All of a sudden, Duluth TV coverage is taken from us and what do we get? Two Detroit channels with all the Detroit news, sports, weather, and special programs that are of interest in the Detroit area.
I doubt very much if Detroit TV knows where we are or who we are—and could care less.
As for the two Minneapolis channels, to them everything north of Duluth is wilderness. And besides, Duluth TV covers the northern area.
Years back, the Duluth channels were discontinued in Thunder Bay and that move did not go over very big there.
I have nothing against digital TV—people can take it or leave it. But as for the Duluth channels, I think we are being denied something that most of us still want—that is to have them back.
Thank you for the space.
Respectfully,
Ron MacGregor
Fort Frances, Ont.
