Vote for Al

Dear sir:
The things people should know about Mr. Allan Bedard, who is running for mayor against Glenn Witherspoon in our town election.
I know Mr. Bedard well. I worked very closely with him while he was a union president, and we have been friends when he was a town councillor and now as he works as an advocate for the Northern Action Group.
Mr. Bedard works to help the seniors like me. I am 80 years old and live in Rainycrest Home for the Aged. I no longer drive a car but have the ability to get out for coffee or lunch when friends like Allan come and get me.
I am fortunate to have friends like Allan because a lot of the seniors here can’t afford to even get out because there is no bus or inexpensive ways to get out into the community.
How many seniors or disabled are stuck in their homes because council under Witherspoon took away their bus and our privilege to be independent? We have two members of council on our Rainycrest board but what have they done to help us seniors? They cut back the workers so far that our needs are not being met, and the workers are so overworked that they are getting burned out and some are even quitting to find jobs elsewhere.
The food is terrible and everything we do, like having to go the clinic for tests or doctor visits, costs extra money. Most people are on fixed incomes and after paying to stay here, you have very little money left. They call it user pay. I call it stealing the seniors’ money.
The council says it’s not their fault, it’s the province. Who cares who’s fault it is, it’s wrong and they won’t even help get it corrected even though they have a voice on the board!
Well, Mr. Bedard has been fighting for us and if elected, I am certain he will help to correct this tragic situation. I want someone to help us make this a home for the living, not a home for the dying, and I want my independence back and that’s why I’m voting for Allan Bedard for mayor.
I know when Allan says he will do something to help the underdog, you better not sell him short because he’ll prove you wrong. Don’t let a slick ad in the paper fool you into who the best person for the job is.
Vote for Bedard for mayor and let him show you. You will not be disappointed.
Sincerely,
George O.M. Sturdy
