Vote counts

Dear editor:
I just had to comment on the upcoming municipal election.
What a wonderful turnout of potential councillors! Decisions to run should not be made impulsively or lightly. Maybe this should be a clue to the existing mayor and council that people aren’t all that happy.
Granted, it hasn’t been rosy this past four-year term, but some of the new names are openly optimistic and eager to take on the challenge—and I applaud them for that.
In talking to people like Jennifer Horton, Andy Hallikas, and Charleen Mallory, they have such fresh ideas for a positive, progressive community.
An existing councillor remarked recently about all the behind-the-scenes work that Roy is involved in; and I don’t doubt that. My immediate thought was, well, if you know about it, and Roy knows about it, surely Andy would know about it, too?
If not, the electorate has more problems than we all know!
Fresh face, fresh perspective, fresh start. Go, Andy!
So now it’s all in the hands of the taxpayers of Fort Frances. As much as it takes guts to put your name on the ballot, the important thing now is to get people to vote!
Regardless of your priorities or agendas, you still need to make sure your vote counts.
I look forward to working in a respected, positive, and progressive community.
Signed,
Arlene Georgeson
