Jan Beazley
Dear editor:
The North West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) board and staff wish to thank all of you who took the time to participate in our online engagement project “Share Your Story, Shape Your Care.”
The North West LHIN is collecting information for our second Integrated Health Services Plan, and will use stories and ideas from health-care providers and health system users to help us map out our priorities and funding for the health care system in Northwestern Ontario for the next three years.
More than 800 people participated online, representing a good age, geography, and education cross-section of our region. Altogether, their comments totalled about 190,000 words, which apparently is equivalent to two good-size novels.
This tremendous response was due, in large part, to the health-care providers and partner agencies which spread the word about the project and encouraged their staff and clients to have their say.
There is still time to participate. We will be accepting paper copies of the “Choicebook” until May 1. Copies are available on our website at www.northwestlhin.on.ca or by calling us toll-free at 1-866-907-5446.
The draws were held for our participation prizes. Congratulations to Pat Binkley (Thunder Bay), who won the Wii Fit, and to Jenni Glad-Timmons (Thunder Bay), Jody Carrier (Thunder Bay), and Bob Fichuk (Fort Frances), who won the iPod Nanos.
Again, we thank those who participated in “Share Your Story, Shape Your Care,” and invite those who still would like to participate to visit our website for a paper copy to complete and send in to us.
A report on the results of this project will be available in early May.
(Signed),
Jan Beazley, Chair,
North West LHIN
Board of Directors
