Dear editor:
I would like to extend my appreciation to Fr. De Gagné, the members of the 116th Independent Field Battery, the local media, the staff at St. Francis School and, most importantly, the students for their most outstanding gestures of support.
I can verify, with a good degree of authority, that of the hundreds of soldiers here in Afghanistan, none have had such an awesome display akin to this.
This is in regards to the very thoughtful and organized Skype session that took place last Thursday at St. Francis. Their beautiful art, music, and support of my family are a fine example of the spirit of Christmas—and a true gesture of patriotism.
I never had the opportunity to “Skype” before, so a packed auditorium of well-wishers was intense.
The experience was overwhelming to say the least, and I’ve subsequently found myself too excited to sleep.
In closing, I ask that those who do support me continue by showing love and kindness this Christmas season, to your neighbours in Borderland and beyond.
