Tremendous support

Dear editor:
Ever since the Friends of the Fort Frances Public Library began, our efforts to raise funds have exceeded expectations. But it’s only with the support of local businesses, the community, and willing volunteers that dreams are realized.
“The Friends” recently held its ninth-annual Valentine bake sale and fundraising draw (this year entitled “Choose Your Own Adventure”). All draw tickets were sold, with the first prize of $1,500 being won by Vicki Allen of Sioux Lookout while Gordon Wollard of Emo pocketed the $500 second prize.
In the end, the bake sale raised $1,159.11 and the draw $3,940, making a grand total of $5,049.11. All proceeds benefit special projects of the Fort Frances Public Library.
Sincere and grateful thanks go to the Fort Frances Times and local businesses for allowing tickets sales at their premises, to all the volunteers who sold raffle tickets, to those volunteers who donated baking, helped at the bake sale, and bought baking (and those who did all three), and to Margaret Sedgwick, Andrea Avis, and library staff who, despite the demands of their job, are never to busy to offer help, ideas, and assistance.
On behalf of the Friends of the Library, I wish to say how much your support and generosity is appreciated. Fort Frances may be a small town, but it has a great big heart!
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Pat Bird
