Dear editor:
Whatever happened to the offer to purchase the Fort Frances Clinic by Mr. Metke? As I understand it, he made two offers to purchase the old clinic and to build a new one.
Did town council completely ignore these offers? Are these offers still on the table? Are taxpayers still on the hook for the $1 million?
Did council create a new board to oversee the clinic purchase? If so, who are these new board members? How have they spent the million dollars, if any money was spent?
Does this new board hold public meetings? Are minutes kept of these meetings? If minutes are kept, are they available to the public?
Was this board created by a resolution of council? How was this board picked? Who sits on this board?
Has this board made any decisions that will impact the residents of Fort Frances? If so, what are they and how will they affect us?
It looks like the Fort Frances Times is leaving the public thirsting for some very serious and relevant information that is not so forthcoming from this council while, at the same time, running unsigned articles telling each taxpayer how good the Family Health Team concept is for this community.
I find it truly frustrating to read these articles in your fine paper. And yet if I wanted to challenge the writer, or even question the writer of these well-written but nonsense articles, I wouldn’t know who to question.
Do you not think, Mr. Editor, that a name ought to be attached to such important articles that have significant impact on this whole community?
Seems to me we should vote out the present council and help the Fort Frances Times secure a reporter who would be able to report news of community interest.
Thank you for the time and space in your paper.
Yours truly,
Bill Krukoski
Fort Frances, Ont.
