Thanks all around

Cathy Emes

Dear Mr. Editor,
On Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Great Canadian Chilli Cook-Off and Cake Roulette at the Fort Frances Canadian Legion.
This year along with the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 we were pleased to be joined by Shaw Communications Inc., Canada Safeway Limited and Campbell Company of Canada and Link-Line. Contractors Limited.
The Chamber hosts this event to support the Salvation Army to fill the food shelves for the upcoming holiday season, as well as filling the needs of those less fortunate that need to use the food banks throughout the year.
This food drive was not over at the end of the cook-off, but continues until Nov. 15.
Non-perishable food is being collected at the following locations; Shaw Communications Inc., Canada Safeway, Robert Moore School and The Place.
Shaw Communication Inc., Canada Safeway Limited and Campbell Company of Canada will each donate a pound of food for each pound collected by the community.
With the $5,000 cash donated by Link Line, 545 lbs. of food have been purchased so far, and the remainder of the donation will go to the purchase of turkeys for the Christmas Hampers.
This weight will be tripled by the other corporate sponsors.
The Chamber of Commerce are grateful to Br. 29 of the Fort Frances Royal Canadian Legion for the donation of the hall upstairs, and the Legion Ladies for the use of their kitchen. Without their assistance this project would not be possible.
A big thank you must go our to the citizens of Fort Frances and the district for their support with this project.
Yours truly,
Cathy Emes, President
Fort Frances
Chamber of Commerce
