Dear editor:
I have just finished my nightly walk along the riverfront with my dog. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why there are so many irresponsible pet owners that are not picking up after their dogs.
Although my dog, “Lizzie,” is just a small dog, I still make a point of carrying at least three plastic bags to pick up after she does her business. It only takes a couple of seconds to do this chore.
But each day when I walk Lizzie, it seems there is even more that has not been picked up. I am sorry to say that it looks as though it is mostly the owners of larger dogs who are not picking up after their pets.
I don’t know what the solution is. I can only hope that after my letter, these dog owners will take a little responsibility and start picking up after their dogs.
There are lots of litter containers all along the river walk, so they don’t have to carry their plastic bags very far.
Please don’t spoil it for all of us who enjoy walking our dogs because I am certain that if this continues, the day will come and we will be told that there are no dogs allowed.
Thank you,
Marg Blasky
