Great sponsors for Canadian curling in the past, such as British Consols, Labatts, Kimberly Clark, and Air Canada, lasted considerably longer than sponsors in the past decade, including Nokia, M&M Meats, Tim Hortons, etc.
But the current major sponsor for Canadian women’s curling, Scott Paper/Kruger, started 25 years ago and still running strong, should be congratulated by the Canadian Curling Association as well as all curling fans.
Corporate vice-president John McClellend gave thanks to the media coverage—in particular the Canadians Curling Reporter , which I have been a member since their inaugural presence (which, ironically, is the same period of time of the Scott’s stay of 25 years).
The compliment was, indeed, an honour to all the CCR members involved.
Team Canada won the 2007 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, held last week in Lethbridge, Alta., for the second-straight year and now will be representing Canada at the world championship in Aomari, Japan starting on March 17.
