Support welcomed

Dear editor:
I was really glad to see the letter to the editor in your paper supporting our local pipeline workers. I am one of the men who work on the pipeline, and I’ve been out on the picket line at Ignace.
I want to let you know that all the public support we are getting, including your paper, feels great.
In Ignace, restaurants sent free coffee out to the picket line I was on, and other guys told me the same happened at their picket line.
I think we still have community spirit here in the north. I think the local business people in Ignace know guys who would normally be doing the maintenance work on the pipeline that the guys from out-of-province were doing.
And I think those same business people recognize that if I’m doing that pipeline work, or the guy next to me on the picket line, then we’re going to spend that money where we live, in Thunder Bay or Ignace or Dryden or wherever.
But it will be in Northwestern Ontario. And that helps everyone in the north.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Larry Turner
