Successful celebration

Dear editor:
I am happy to announce our 30th anniversary celebrations of the Sister Kennedy Centre were a complete success.
We had more people participate in these events than we ever dreamed of—having seniors come in from Rainy River, Manitou Rapids, Emo, Devlin, Couchiching, Atikokan, and International Falls, Mn., as well as from Fort Frances.
Our attendance record was shattered by hundreds of more people in this building in one week than ever before.
We owe our success to all those who participated in this very special occasion. I want to thank our special guests and all of our many loving, hard-working Sister Kennedy Centre volunteers because without them, these event would not have been possible.
Our potluck supper, speeches, awards ceremonies, free lunches, and games all were a success because of each one of you.
I would also like to say our first-ever Fort Frances Senior of the Year, Hubert Medhurst, was an excellent choice who represents the best in what seniors have to offer and stand for.
This will be a yearly award.
The winner of our 50/50 attendance draw was Isabel Kempf, who won $269. The other $269 will be given to our Christmas hamper fund, which will be donated to a family in need at Christmas.
This will be our second year, and we hope to continue this practice for the years ahead.
Our very beautiful and eloquently hand-crafted wooden bowl, made and donated by Ken Noble, was won by Ralph Longmuir.
In closing, I want to personally thank everyone who participated and played a role in this wonderful week, including our Sister Kennedy Centre board.
As director of the Sister Kennedy Centre, we did ourselves proud.
Signed,
Nick Wihnan
