Still fundraising

Dear editor:
I would like to give the community an update in regards to my Arthritis Society’s “Joints In Motion” campaign.
I am, and will continue to, fundraise over the next few months in honour of the late Darrell Webb, who suffered from crippling rheumatoid arthritis in his hands and feet.
He was a wonderful man with a never-ending smile. He wanted to participate in the fundraising events and had many plans on what could be done for our efforts.
He will be sadly missed but always with me in spirit. I am dedicating my marathon to him and his family.
In Mr. Webb’s memory, the Arthritis Society of Thunder Bay and I are planning to hold a first-annual, school-wide “Joints In Motion” fun run/walk on Oct. 1.
I received permission from the Rainy River District School Board to organize a fundraiser in his honour. I am hoping all the school principals with the board will join us on that day and make it a first of many annual “Joints In Motion” fun run/walk for arthritis in our community.
To date, I have raised $1,593.06 (Cdn.) and $115 (U.S.) towards the $5,000 commitment I made. Please know that all monies I raise for the Arthritis Society’s “Joints In Motion” campaign stay within our community.
I would like you to join me in helping my cause—I have an 18-week training program beginning next week to get ready for my 42-km (26.2-mile) marathon in Lisbon, Portugal on Dec. 5.
The training part I can handle, but I do need your help so I can achieve my goal of raising $5,000 and help ease the suffering of those who live with one of more than 100 forms of arthritis in our community.
If you would like to make a donation, feel free to call the Arthritis Society’s toll-free line at 1800-268-9535 and tell them you would like to donate to the “Joints In Motion” program in honour of Doris Pelletier’s “hero,” Darrell Webb.
Or send your donations to 502 Armit Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 2H7. Please make cheques payable to the Arthritis Society.
Thank you for your generous support.
(Signed),
Doris Pelletier,
