Speak up, now!

Dear sir:
The international community we live in has spoken. Now is the time for breaking down barriers between Ontario and Minnesota–not for putting up more of them by way of increasing the cost to cross the bridge!
I would like to thank the 1,205 individuals who signed the petition that I recently posted in various businesses throughout Fort Frances, Couchiching First Nation, International Falls, and Ranier.
The petition stated the following: “We, the undersigned, are extremely opposed to any increase in the fees/toll to cross the international bridge between Fort Frances, Ont. and International Falls, Mn.”
The next step is for me to let a lot of people know just how many of us are against this. Here’s a list of some of the individuals who’ll be finding out about how our community really feels:
•Howard Hampton, Member of Provincial Parliament (Ontario);
•Robert Nault, Member of Parliament (Canada);
•Jesse Ventura, Governor of Minnesota;
•The I. Falls and Fort Frances Chambers of Commerce;
•The I. Falls and Fort Frances mayors;
•The managers of the I. Falls and Fort Frances paper mills;
•CBC Radio;
•Minnesota Public Radio
If you didn’t get a chance to sign my petition–and would have liked to–I urge you to start your own, or at least let the people who have the ability to stop this from happening know how you feel!
If you don’t make your voice heard now, you give up the rights to complain when you’re being charged a fortune to cross our border.
Sincerely,
Kate Woods
Fort Frances, Ont.
