Social degradation

Dear sir:
As admirers of Sony and as consumers of good audio products, my wife and I have become agitated enough after seeing repeatedly two Sony commercials that have provoked us to the point of seriously considering the mind of Sony.
What are the ads in question?
They are: 1). the young soldier on leave for Christmas who physically pushes aside his wife/girlfriend so that he might get to his “Sony” entertainment centre; and 2). the young boy who stresses his embarrassment because his dad, who no doubt possesses other gifts, is not an electronic wizard and is supposedly not gifted enough without Sony products.
Certainly it is the objective of every advertiser to demoralize the consumer for not using the advertiser’s preferred product; it is the subtle nature of advertising. In your case (Sony), you have stepped beyond the pervasive nature of commercialism to very noticeably reduce (and even abuse) the dignity of your fellow human beings.
You make them look stupid. This could be a reflection for you to ponder.
At the same time, you have provided us with good material to bring to our youth, with whom we meet, good discussion on the social degradation in our consumer-excessive society.
So, on the one hand, thank you. On the other, Gosh, you look stupid!
Sincerely,
Gerry & Jackie Guimond
