School items sought

Dear editor:
As you are aware, Alexander MacKenzie School will be closing in June. We are writing to you as members of the School Closing Committee.
We are looking for members of our community who may have any memorabilia they would be willing to loan us for display at the school closing ceremony on Tuesday, May 25.
Items of interest might include brief, typewritten stories about school life in the early days of Alexander MacKenzie (means of transportation, discipline, extra-curricular activities, lunches, school upkeep, subjects covered, etc.).
We also would appreciate the loan of any labelled, dated photos from early days up to the 1970s that could be displayed and returned to the owner.
We are trying to locate the original bell from the school. If you know anything about the history or the whereabouts of the school bell, please let us know.
Submissions and information may be dropped off at the school or mailed to Alexander MacKenzie School, 408 King’s Highway, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 2S7, or the attention of Catherine McGuire or Karen Woods.
We eagerly await to see what stories and history the community has to share with us. Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.
And please mark May 25 on your calendar and join us in the closing ceremonies of our school.
Catherine McGuire
and Karen Woods,
Alexander MacKenzie
