Dear sir:
After some serious thought, I felt compelled to write this letter to the editor and the citizens of Fort Frances.
Recently, I was involved in a funeral procession.
Not too long ago, I might have seen a few in their vehicles not bother to show respect by pulling over to the side of the road. This time, it was, unfortunately, the opposite.
Not only did just a few people pull over, but the procession was passed on the right by a taxi, several tourists, and a police car—most of which cut back in front of the lead car.
I had several people that day, who had witnessed the same events, approach me to communicate their disgust on this matter.
I have been involved in, and seen, funeral processions in International Falls, Atikokan, and Dryden, and this is not the case in any of these towns, so why is it in Fort Frances? I, myself, always pull my vehicle to the side of the road and stop to show due respect in these situations.
In doing so, I have never been late nor missed an appointment as it only takes a few minutes out of a day.
To those of you who pulled over to show your respect, I commend you.
To those of you who did not, it’s never too late to change.
To those of you who passed on the right-hand lane, shame on you!
Signed,
G. Rogoza
