Reopen roads

Dear editor:
Fellow citizens and elected representatives of our town—thank you for your efforts on behalf of tourism.
The label tourism represents a lot more than the entities or businesses that deal with non-residents. To be sure, all help is appreciated.
But the resident tourists need your consideration!
A lot of people (residents) lost valuable employment income so they are put in a position of trying to get their tourism time and expenses on a local basis.
Most of them bought, own, and service vehicles locally. With a tank of gas, they can get some tourism values.
A lot of these tourism values are dependent on access to the great country around us. Our bush country roads allow us to take on many activities that are almost too numerous to list.
One of them is hunting—and our Ontario laws don’t allow us to hunt on, off, or across highways. But the accesses to many miles of bush roads have been taken away by government bureaucratic rulings and policies.
We need these reinstated and opened to resident tourism. A lot of money returns to this town because of this needed action.
Please consider the needs of resident tourists. A lot of political promises have been made and published in this newspaper.
Take the opportunity and invite the politicians to do away with the bureaucratic mess and conflict, and give us back our rights.
