Refreshing

Dear editor:
I am writing this letter to give a big thanks—and a pat on the back—to all the people in the area who volunteered their time, tools, and equipment on Saturday, April 13 for a work bee at the Stratton sales barn, and for all the work bees in the past, as well.
This one was extra difficult and special as we had the daunting task of moving piles and drifts of snow so we could access the barn, pens, alleys, and parking lot area for the upcoming cattle sale this Saturday (April 20), not to mention repairs from the damage the snow caused and the countless other chores that needed to be done, as well.
It is refreshing to know that there is that many good and caring people who take time out of their own busy schedules to give back and help out with something in their community.
With people like that to ensure that the Stratton sales barn is there to provide a marketplace for locally-raised livestock to sell in a competitive, fair, producer-owned and operated auction, I know that the farmers from 50 some years ago who got together and formed the Rainy River Cattlemen’s Association and the Stratton sales barn would be proud to know that their vision and dream is alive and well.
Once again, thanks to all for their help and for ensuring a valuable part of the farming community is a success and there for the next generations to have, as well.
