Reconsider changes

Dear sir:
To the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario.
I live in Fort Frances, where we are used to taking cuts by governments (federal and provincial). We have little say on what happens here as we are so outnumbered by the mass of people in the Toronto area.
The Kenora-Rainy River riding is the second-largest in area in Canada. It already has the greatest number (87) of communities. The distance from Fort Frances to Fort Severn is far greater than from Windsor to Cornwall.
To visit most of the northern communities, you have to fly, as there are no roads. The fare from Sioux Lookout to Fort Severn is more than $1,000.
I would suggest you talk to former MP John Parry, who now lives in Winnipeg. He tried to visit all the communities and found it impossible. You would make it worse. Voters living in Sachigo Lake or Webequie have the same right to discuss their problems as those in Kenora or Rainy River.
I see our 82,681 population is the second-smallest in the province, and that is why you want to add more communities. There are ridings in Toronto with 123,089 people, but you could service them without using your car.
Population can’t be so important. If my memory serves me right, Prince Edward Island is guaranteed at least four seats, which means one vote there is worth three here.
Is population so important that Northern Ontario has to lose one seat?
Please reconsider. Thank you.
Signed,
Ron Helliar
