Re-elect Campbell

Dear editor:
In 2011, I wrote a letter to the Fort Frances Times about the need to elect Sarah Campbell to the Ontario Legislative Assembly.
I did so because of what almost happened across the border here in Minnesota in 2010. A right-wing Republican named Tom Emmer almost became governor because of a vote split among centre-left voters between Democrat Mark Dayton and a third-party candidate, Tom Horner.
Dayton won but barely, which became crucial because the Republicans gained control of the state legislature.
Now, I am asking voters to vote for Sarah Campbell of the Ontario NDP again. PC leader Tim Hudak promises massive cuts to provincial programs and even has said he would eliminate the jobs of 100,000 public workers.
He also stated he would introduce right-to-work legislation and curb union rights, which would hurt Fort Frances hard in my estimation.
In short, Hudak would like to become Ontario’s version of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who, with a total Republican majority he won in 2010 in that state, has done much of what Hudak wants to accomplish.
Do not give Hudak that chance. Re-electing Campbell would stop this from happening so I urge all possible Green and Liberal voters, along with any independent, to unite behind Campbell.
Why? Because this election is not about gas plants, Dalton McGuinty, Andrea Horwath, or Kathleen Wynne. It is about supporting public education, supporting provincial health programs, keeping unions strong, supporting roads and transportation, and not putting public safety at risk.
In other words, it is about keeping Hudak out of the premiership and a PC majority from taking over Ontario.
Do not let what happened in Wisconsin, and what almost happened in Minnesota, happen in Ontario.
Please re-elect Sarah Campbell.
