Poetic stance

Dear editor:

In the spirit of the season I have composed a little ditty. I’d be obliged if you all would print it. It goes kinda like this . . .
Dear Teacher
You are
Knowledge like a flowing well
Toughness like a turtle’s shell
More courage than Hercules
Your kindness always come with ease
Patient as the feline stalking
Companionship as two are walking.
The problem that I have today
Is that the strike has not gone away
Somehow deep down in my side
Easy answers will not abide.
Show me that when I’m sixty and three
I can still live comfortably.
Show me how is the challenge then
Show me, show me if you can.

Respectfully yours,
Rolf Geissler
